Unsure if physiotherapy is for you?

Physiotherapists:

  • Use specific assessments to diagnose the cause of pain in joints, muscles and the spine

  • Relieve pain with manual therapy techniques

  • Rehabilitate injuries through exercise

  • Prevent injury

  • Help with sports or occupational injuries

They work with clients to:

  • Perform manual therapy and create tailored exercise programs

  • Help them maintain or regain mobility

  • Help prevent the decline of existing health issues

  • Promote good habits for optimum health

We invite you to arrange a consultation. Your physiotherapist will discuss your issues and explain treatment before working with you on a program of exercise and therapy for pain relief, rehabilitation or building strength and resilience to injury.

What to bring to your initial consultation?

Please wear comfortable clothing for ease of movement and access to the injured area allowing the correct assessment and treatment of your injury. Please bring all relevant documents relating to your injury (such as X-rays and scans) to your appointment.

What can I expect in my first physiotherapy appointment?

Firstly, you will sit down with your physiotherapist to discuss the reason for your visit. Your physiotherapist will ask you a variety of questions that will help to establish the cause of the problem. A physical examination will then be carried out to assess the injury and map out a personalised treatment program. This is then discussed with you before treatment begins.

How can physiotherapy help me?

Physiotherapists offer more than just musculoskeletal guidance and support, extending care to chronic health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and pelvic floor issues. As well, physiotherapists are able to help reduce common health and safety issues associated with working in labour intensive industries, preventing injury as well as rehabilitating people to get back to work quickly and safely.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, therefore a GP referral is not required prior to a consultation.
